Fradel Ekerling from Tel Aviv, Israel, filed a restitution claim for precious metal items and jewelry surrendered in 1940 in Krakow, Poland, by her parents, Abraham and Anna Tyras. Her mother, Anna Tyras, perished in the Bochnia Ghetto in 1942. Her siblings, Regina Tyras, Mosche Tyras, and Mordechai Tyras, also perished during the persecution, along with the spouses and children of Mosche and Mordechai. The claim was jointly filed with her surviving brothers, Ignatz Tyras and Leo Tyras, both residing in New York, USA. Fradel Ekerling survived the persecution and married her second husband, Menachem Groder, in Germany in 1946 before immigrating to Israel. The applicants were granted a hardship compensation (Härteausgleich) of DM 2,400 in 1972, in accordance with § 44a of the Federal Restitution Law (BRÜG). The United Restitution Organization (URO) offices in Tel Aviv, Berlin, and Munich were involved in the case.
