Ernestine Heilpern residing in Tel Aviv, Israel, seeks compensation for harm to health, freedom, and professional advancement during the Nazi era. Before the persecution, she lived a comfortable life in Bielitz, Poland, married to Dr. Ludwig Heilpern, a textile factory co-owner. She fled Bielitz on August 31, 1939, and after a nearly three-year journey through Lemberg, Lithuania (Vilna), Moscow, and Athens, she arrived in Palestine as an illegal immigrant in April 1941. In Israel, she faced significant adaptation difficulties and could not work due to health issues. Her mother, Caecilie Tuerk (née Darmstaedter), and her youngest brother were murdered by the Nazis. Her eldest brother, a doctor, went missing along with his wife and children. Based on the Federal Compensation Law (BEG), she was awarded a capital compensation of DM 4,166.40 for the period from January 1, 1940, to December 31, 1947, as per a decision from June 27, 1962. Following a court process, a settlement was reached on May 7, 1968, awarding her an additional DM 8,000. The United Restitution Organization (URO) offices in Tel Aviv, Frankfurt/Main, and Berlin were involved in handling the case.
