Kasriel Schwarz, a farmer and trader from Hrusiatycze, Poland, residing in Safaria, Israel at the time of his application, sought compensation for harm to liberty suffered during the Nazi era. This included being forced to wear the Jewish badge and perform forced labor in Hrusiatycze from July 1941 to December 1942, internment in the Bobrka ghetto from December 1942 to April 1943, and living in hiding from April 1943 until liberation in July 1944. After the war, he was in the Wetzlar DP camp from 1946 until his emigration to Israel in 1949.
The applicant also sought compensation for harm to health, citing injuries from an accident during forced labor and general health deterioration.
Following Kasriel Schwarz's death on August 14, 1962, his heirs, including his widow Troina (Theresa) Schwarz and children Zwi Schwarz, Anczel Schwarz, and Sara Bizbin, continued the claim.
Compensation was also sought for the harm to life suffered by the applicant's daughters, Jocheweth Schwarz, born in 1915, and Minzia Schwarz, born in 1918, who both perished during the Holocaust. Jocheweth Schwarz was reportedly shot and killed in Hrusiatycze in the summer of 1944. This part of the claim was later withdrawn.
Kasriel Schwarz was awarded a capital compensation of DM 13,034.56 for the period from July 1, 1944, to October 31, 1953, and a monthly pension of DM 250 from November 1, 1953, which increased to DM 300 from January 1, 1961.
The case involved correspondence between the URO offices in Frankfurt/Main, Tel Aviv (MILTAM), and New York. The Irgun Oleh Merkas Europa (IOME) in Tel Aviv also participated by providing a certificate of indigence.
